Zmation Announces Custom Ergonomic Workbench for Electronics Test

Ergonomic Work Bench Production
August 30, 1997 — Portland, OR, USA—Zmation, Inc. announced today the development of a new Ergonomic Workbench used in the functional testing of electronic computer boards. This system was specifically designed to allow a single operator to load boards into a 2-D matrix reader and multiple testers in an ergonomic environment. This system greatly increased production throughput, reduced operator repetitive motion and more floor space. Additionally, this system can be configured to meet many other semi-automated requirements for a wide variety of production products or processes.

Each workbench is manufactured of high strength aluminum extrusion with aluminum cases that house each of the electronic testers. The 2-D matrix reader is mounted to either the left or right side of the workbench depending upon configuration. Adjustable computer monitors are mounted on top of the workbench for easy operator viewing. All electrical wiring and pneumatic hoses are housed in accessible conduit for addition or repair. The system also includes a pneumatic lockout/tagout integrated into an air filter regulator assembly.

This system demonstrates some of the design and manufacturing capabilities of Zmation, Inc. for custom automation systems. Zmation also produces standard Automatic Dispensing Systems, Machine Vision Inspection Systems, and Robotic Integrated Systems for a wide variety of applications.
